When PNG is the useful destination

PNG is useful when an editor or publishing workflow needs a .png file with lossless storage for the decoded pixels.

know

Expect a different file size

PNG stores the decoded output losslessly and can be much larger than WebP. Conversion preserves visible pixels and transparency, but it cannot restore detail already discarded by an earlier lossy WebP encoding.

Questions about WebP to PNG.

Format behavior, transparency, file size, and what stays on your device.

Does WebP to PNG keep transparency?

Yes. Transparency in a supported static WebP is preserved in the PNG output.

Why can the PNG be larger than the WebP?

PNG uses lossless compression for the decoded pixels, while WebP may use a more compact lossy representation. A larger output is normal in many cases.

Does converting to PNG restore lost WebP detail?

No. PNG can store the decoded result without further lossy encoding, but it cannot recover information already removed from the WebP source.

Will WebP to PNG resize the image?

No. The converter keeps the decoded width and height and changes only the file format.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. Your original and processed images stay inside your browser and are never uploaded to our server. Refreshing or closing the page clears the working image data from the browser. Files you download remain on your device until you delete them.
